Griffith Park Winter Test
We were asked to set-up a test for an upcoming feature with
a tentative title of "100 Year Winter". This test was conducted at the top
of the hill in Griffith Park, CA. We had one day to dress a fairly sizable
area in two different locations
near each other. Once we arrived with our eight man crew the first thing we
did was to lay the terram material down over the vegetation. We had very strict
conditions to follow considering this is a National Park and park officials were
standing-by watching our every move. This wasn't a problem because we are always
very careful not to harm any vegetation in any locations. Once the terram was
laid we applied the C90 paper power product on the trees and srubs. Then the
fullsize (FS) and halfsize (HS) paper snow was applied to the foreground near
the camera location.
The
production company arrived mid-day the next afternoon to shoot a test for their
project. They were very pleased with
the looks of the snow scene we presented them. The movie is slated be filmed
on location in New Zealand using Snow Business products sometime in 2004.
Clean-up went quickly because only the foreground paper snow
and terram were removed then the C90 was washed off the trees using a water
truck and a spray nozzle. C90 is a fine-ground paper material that,
once washed off, becomes a biodegradable substance that actually is beneficial
to the soil. The park officials were very satisfied
that the park area was restored to original condition an a few weeks later
the area looked greener and healthier then before.
